While visiting family on the weekend in Norwich we visited The revamped Strangers Hall Museum. What a great find!
It is a beautiful medieval building that houses a collection of furniture and objects from that period and also it is one of the 1st museums of domestic life in the country. They have collected objects of all kinds mostly given by local people. There are 25,000 objects in the collection and I was particularly inspired by their vintage toy collection. Their childrens' book collection is of national importance and they have over 1300 items. I will definitely be going back there sometime to do some research.
I loved this medieval writing particularly as I completed a commission last year where I devised a new illuminated manuscript alphabet and took inspiration from type like this.
I loved this Noahs Ark- beautifully crafted animals and painted so well.
Thought this type was beautiful.
