Fashion for kids

Stella McCartney- Ingrid Dress £60.

I have been meaning to blog about this for a few weeks.
There was a very interesting article in The Times on Nov 3rd about designer childrenswear and it's huge growth potential.
Stella McCartney has recognised this potential after working with Gap on a range of children's clothes. She has launched her own collection on http://www.stellamccartneykids.com with a range of retro seventies inspired clothes that will appeal to the children as well as their adults. I particularly like the Ingrid Dress at £60.
According to the Times article, Burberry has also recently opened a dedicated kids' space in Harrods and has identified childrenswear as a sector for huge growth potential.
The article discusses the popularity of the brand "I Love Gorgeous", founded by Lucy Enfield wife of Harry Enfield and for parents who love to see their children looking gorgeous in pretty bohemian dresses that are not bright pink and full of logos. It says that while the High Street end of the market continues to sexualise children the designer end is concentrating on the retro more innocent style of dress that were popular in the 70's.
It was great to read this as this is what I am aspiring for with my designs and it seems I am right on trend! Lets hope this trend stays for the foreseeable future.
