Christmas Holidays

What a lovely relaxing Christmas we had after all the madness of the past year.
One highlight for us was taking our friends from Devon to London to the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green.
A great museum with so much to see.
In the foyer they had a really inspiring exhibition.
It was based on the rickshaw painters of India and really brought back memories of seeing these bikes while on my Buying trip to India several years ago.
I have always been particularly inspired by folk flower patterning and these bike patterns are visually stunning. They contain all kinds of craftmanship from the hand painted areas, to the stucco metalwork to the embroidered flowers. This really illustrates what India is famous for.
A craft project had been worked on with Redlands School and they had developed a wall display out of metal and paper plates that had been painted vividly with patterns reminiscent of the bike patterns and it must have been a really interesting project for the children.

Happy New Year!

We tried out some indoor fireworks and this was alot of fun for the children!
