Habitat

Habitat is a store I have always gone in for inspiration.
However over the past few years the designs have not been as strong and they have failed to produce many inspiring products.
The stores have always seemed very empty and so I was not surprised but very sad to learn that Habitat has gone into administration with only 3 of it's stores staying, being bought by the company who owns Argos.

They were so important for using designers such as Tord Boonje to develop products such as his light below to create abit of theatre in people's homes and also help to catapult the careers of such designers.

Some of their textile patterns were inspiring and this peacock design below was used on a range of tea towels through to sticky tape.
There really is a huge gap in the market for more design led homewares and I hope they can rebuild the brand gradually to give more high street prescence again. We don't all like shopping in Ikea.
